Not a master of it by any means, but I appreciate skilled practitioners. It has a special appeal for me in motion picture. So much today strains to provide origin story and exposition, no matter how many plot muscles it pulls to do it. Flashbacks to life before crashing on the island, Ellen Page asking Leo how the city rolls up onto itself. Molecular plot gastronomy can be delicious, but there’s appeal in a simple meal too.
And so I offer you Michael Beran’s Tee Party. Two guys, different lives, different collars, same insomnia, same driving range. Dialogue, swing choreography, and, ladies, Robbie Magasiva. As someone who clearly offended the Sandman at some point in life, this 11 minute serving of story really resonated. Enjoy.
